Heather’s wonderful, joyous …and odd. Songs that touch your heart and make you smile’ MARK THOMAS (comedian, actor)

In her different musical incarnations, she has shared a stage with or worked for the Royal Shakespeare Company, Paul Murphy, Danny Thompson, Cirque Plume, Sylvia Hallett, Poisongirls, Edward Bond, Charlton Village Pantomime, Christine Collister, Pogues, Andy Sheppard, Julian Clary, Tricycle Theatre, Emilyn Claid, Nightingales, the Venice Carnival, Christy Moore, Vladimir Miller, Chumbawamba, Pete Morton, Mark Thomas and Prince Charles (before his recent promotion...).She has also played her soprano sax up in a hot air balloon.

Heather Joyce is a most talented multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter. I have known and loved her work for over four decades and she’s never ceased to astonish me with each new venture.’ ANNA FURSE (writer and theatre director)

As a teenager, she was one half of punk duo Toxic Shock (anarcho punk cabaret and mud filled Glastonbury 1985). Bread and butter work later came from comedy trad jazz trio Bold as Brass (weddings, parties, funerals), plus voice and songwriting workshops in schools, prisons and festivals. She has toured extensively all over Europe, playing saxophones, clarinets, tin whistles, flutes, 5-string banjo, guitar, keyboards, medieval wire-strung harp …and singing.

I first saw Heather Joyce playing with Toxic Shock in the 80s. My mind was blown - they were amazing and I’m still in awe of her talent.’ MARK KERMODE (film critic and musician)

Canadian born, Devon raised but now based near Paris, Heather was lucky enough to grow up at a time when there was free music education in state schools. Her lifelong fascination with different instruments and styles of music is entirely due to this good fortune. Aged 30, having begun to work more exclusively as a singer, she finally studied music at Birmingham Conservatoire.

She is immensely proud and relieved to have nurtured two feisty daughters to adulthood.

Touching, tender, funny, flippant - Heather has an easy, unique way with music and words’ MARK DIACONO (cook, gardener, photographer, writer)

Heather deserves wider recognition. She writes strong melodies with meaningful lyrics and compelling grooves. Beautiful singing and original compositional style - I’d rate her up there with Joni Mitchell and Joan Armatrading.’ GARY BRUNTON (jazz double bassist, composer)
